Although the flavours and fillings differ by area, tamales are a common dish in Latin America that are cooked using a dough that is either made from maize, rice or plantains. During this celebration, the Latin American community in Ottawa is bringing together as many regional types as they can! -
Sugaring Off
Bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis, go on a sleigh or waggon ride, see the farm, taste maple taffy on the snow and more. You can also see how maple syrup is prepared in the Historic Sugarshack. -

See the inventive displays and cutting-edge designs of over 150 of Canada's top designers, craftspeople, and artists. Also, you may interact with Canadian creators and creatives from all around the nation by attending this live event. -
Tim Hortons Dragon Boat Race
Founded in 1993, the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is a non-profit organisation. The Hong Kong Canada Business Association helped the group host its first event in 1994. The Festival, one of the most popular athletic and entertainment events in the Nation's Capital, now has 200 teams in competitive, corporate, and community categories. -
Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend
Both participants and spectators must do it. The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend has a variety of races, including a Kids Marathon, a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 2K runs. The Half Marathon and the Marathon have travelled through Gatineau for a number of years, providing participants with breathtaking views of the Rideau Canal, the National Capital Area, and several other fascinating local sites. -
Bud Light Escapade
Some of the greatest stars in the electronic dance music industry perform at the annual Escapade Music Festival, which is hosted in Ottawa. -
Canadian Tulip Festival
The Canadian Tulip Festival was established to celebrate the historic Royal gift of tulips from the Dutch to Canadians immediately following the Second World War as a symbol of international friendship. The Festival preserves the memorable role of the Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands and Europe, as well as commemorates the birth of Dutch Princess Margriet in Ottawa during World War II—the only royal personage ever born in Canada. The Canadian Tulip Festival has been celebrating the tulip, an international symbol of friendship and peace, since 1953. The first Canadian Tulip Festival was held at the suggestion of world renowned photographer Malak Karsh. -
Ottawa International Busker Fest
Aug 4 - Aug 7 Street entertainers from all over the world provide very unconventional entertainment, including clowns, jugglers, acrobats, magicians, and more! Admission is free, but contributions are requested. -
Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Fest
Aug 31-Sep 4 Every year at the end of August, this enormous celebration features music, fireworks, amusement rides, and the releasing of balloons of different colours, sizes, and forms above the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Take a trip in a huge balloon and float above the Ottawa-Gatineau region, or watch them take off from the festival grounds. During night flights, several of the balloons are illuminated after dark! -
Capital Pride Parade
August 28 This year’s Parade will start at Kent St and Somerset St. The parade will travel north on Kent St, east on Laurier St, south on Elgin St, and west on Gladstone Ave. The Parade will end at Bank St and Gladstone Ave. All marching groups will exit the parade north on Bank Street. All vehicles will exit the parade by heading west along Gladstone Ave. -
Ottawa Titans Baseball
Catch professional baseball games at Ottawa Stadium, located just east of downtown, in Canada's capital from May to September. The Eastern Conference of the Frontier League, which has 15 clubs from Ontario, Quebec, and the northeastern United States, is where the Ottawa Titans Baseball Club competes. Cappy, the team mascot, is a favourite among families. The 10,000-seat RCGT Park stadium also serves as a venue for other events during non-game days and the off-season. -
H.O.P.E Volleyball
July 15, 2023 North America’s largest one-day outdoor beach volleyball tournament, with more than 25,000 players and spectators and a wide variety of entertainment events featuring prominent artists. -

Billboard Magazine named Ottawa Bluesfest one of the world's top ten most successful outdoor music festivals. The 'fest attracts attendees from all over the world, and Ottawa music fans look forward to opening night each year with increasing anticipation. -

March 18, 2023 The not-for-profit 613flea is a humongous once a month marketplace held in the historic Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa. The free to attend event features an exciting (and ever-changing!) lineup of over 140 vendors who offer eclectic goods, hand made treasures, vintage finds and one-of-a-kinds. Makers and bakers, artists and artisans, antiques and vintage clothing, records and comics, plus great food too! 613flea is open one Saturday each month except January and December. -
